Engin Koncagul is an earth scientist by training. After he obtained his MSc and PhD degrees on freshwater resources, he worked in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an advisor. He joined the UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme in 2002. Since then, he has actively participated in development of nine editions of the United Nations World Water Development Report (WWDR) and led the production of the Facing the Challenges volume illustrating country experiences and a selection of key indicators in water domain. Based in UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, the senior programme officer Mr Koncagul is responsible for coordinating the production of the WWDR series since 2015.
