I am currently and since 2013 the Advisor to the Minister of water and Irrigation on technical affairs and water quality management issues.
I was appointed the Director of Water Resources Quality Protection (2005-2008), Director of Laboratories & Quality Department (2008-2009), the Assistant Secretary General for Laboratories and Water Quality Affairs (2010, 2011 & 2014).
During my career I led the adoption of risk assessment for preventative water quality management and contributed to national standard and guideline setting in close participation with the national stakeholders to support this direction.
I joined the World Health Organization/ Regional Centre for Environmental Health Activities (WHO/CEHA) to work on climate change impacts on water security and scarcity.
I was appointed the Jordan representative (Sherpa) in the preparatory meetings of the High level Panel on Water (HLPW) on Goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals, where we are cooperating with Australia on drought management inspired by the WaterGuide road map tackling the Energy-water and food issues..
I am a board member of the Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology (JSMO) that developed the water related Jordanian Standards.
Between 7-12 May 2017, I completed the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education course, “Women and Power.” with around 60 women from around the world. This course was enlightening, enriching and empowering. I enjoyed meeting such global powerhouses.
I hold a Master of Science in Hydrogeology from the University College London- England (1997) and a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Jordan (1984). I have worked in the water sector for the last 32 years mainly in water quality management, total quality management, ISO accreditation, isotope hydrology and management of radiological aspects in water.
My passion towards research earned me a scholarship to pursue my M.Sc. in Hydrogeology (UCL/London) already having three daughters. I received many awards for distinguished contributions to the Jordanian Water Sector. I participated in many scientific papers and publications, the latest of which is Management of Radioactivity in Drinking Water with an esteemed World Health Organization experts from around the Globe.
