Björn Zimprich studied geography, political science, and Islamic studies at Freie Universität Berlin. Study-visits brought him to Central Asia, West Africa, and the Middle East (Syria and Egypt). He has been working for German Development Cooperation in the Middle East since 2011. He has worked in the areas of fragility and conflict as well as water governance. Since 2015, he has headed for the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit” (GIZ), the BMZ-funded project “Water Conservation through Religion” and he is responsible for GIZ cooperation with religious leaders in Jordan. In addition, he manages the component of sanitation for millions in Jordan.
