Mr. Jean-Marc Faurès is a senior agronomist and water resources management specialist. He has more than 30 years of experience in dealing with issues related to agricultural development in the Near East, Africa and Asia, with special focus on land and water issues. Recent works have focused on climate change adaptation, and on enhancing the livelihoods of rural populations through productive investments in water. In 2015, he joined the Management Team of FAO’s Strategic Programme on Sustainable Agriculture, coordinating activities aiming at mainstreaming sustainable food and agriculture in national programmes, in relation to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. M. Faurès was appointed as Regional Programme Leader for the Near East in February 2019.
