Sören studied Environmental and Resource Management in Germany, Brasil and Mexico. Since 2006, he works for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, initially as junior advisor in the global proyect “Ecosan – reuse-oriented sanitation and wastewater management systems” in Germany. In 2009 he moved to GIZ-Mexico collaborating as a technical advisor and coordinator on topics related to integrated solid waste management. Between 2014 and 2017, he worked for the Urban-Industrial Environmental Management Program of GIZ-Mexico, being in charge of national and local activitities in urban environmental management. In addition, he coordinated two triangular cooperation projects with Peru (contaminated sites management) and Bolivia (wastewater treatment for agricultural reuse). Afterwards, Sören started the new project “Climate Protection in the Mexican Urban Policy” of the International Climate Initiative focussing on urban planning, sustainable mobility and conservation of urban ecosystem services. Additionally, he coordinated activities of global projects connected to smart cities, water, transport and climate. Since August 2018, he is project manager of the global proyect “Water and Wastewater Companies for Climate Mitigation” in Bonn with activities in Jordan, Mexico, Peru and Thailand.
